Winter Throw Pillow Combinations for a Cozy, Warm Home

The holidays are over and if your home is anything like mine, it looks like you're packing up to move out. The walls are empty, the color is gone, and it's back to everything beige. While I love a clean home moment, I do crave pops of color and touches of warm-ness throughout my home whether in rich woods, accent walls, or the easiest way to bring in a little color and warmth: throw pillows. A rich winter throw pillow combination can really liven up your living room (or bedroom) and here are some of my personal favorite combinations for winter:

Winter throw pillow combinations for a warm, cozy home. Deep browns and rich florals

Deep Browns & Bold Florals

This is the combination currently on my couch! Our living room opens up into our kitchen that has deep walnut colored cabinets, so this combination of deep browns and florals really ties in the warmth of the wood in the kitchen.

Each of these styles comes in different sizes, so get creative with your throw pillow combinations and add in different sizes and textures to make your space really come alive.

Sweater Weather Textures

If you're still looking for a neutral color palette but love texture on your couch or on your bed, this one's for you. The great thing about this throw pillow combination is that the Natural Linen Covers are great for every season, then you can pair them with other colors and textures throughout the year to give your space that fresh look every few months.

The sweater-like knitted texture paired with the vintage plaid is a neutral play on classic winter textures that give your home that warm and cozy vibe you love.

Dusty Florals: A Nod to Spring

If you're ready to commit to a little color for Valentine's Day leading into Spring, I love this dusty rose and mauve combination. With subtle tones of pinks, but still keeping textures that nod to Winter, this is the perfect combination that seamlessly takes you from Winter into Spring.

As the weather gets warmer, I would also recommend swapping out the Beige Wool lumbar pillow for something like this Beige and Khaki Scalloped Pillow Cover to add a little brightness and playfulness to your throw pillow combination, and just like that, you're ready for Spring!

What I Consider When Choosing Throw Pillows

For me, it's all about combining the right textures and patterns. When I think of a good throw pillow combination for any season, I typically go for a simple base like a solid colored linen pillow cover that anchors the other two styles.

Once that's established, take it a step further and choose a simple texture or a simple geometric, repetitive pattern. This brings a little bit of balance to your home design. I feature these pillows in all of my blogs, but this specific textured style has always been one of my favorites - and I actually have it in a few colors in various rooms of my house.

And finally, the fun part! Once you have a solid color for the anchor and a simple geometric pattern for balance (plaid, woven, etc.), I love to throw in something fun like a floral pattern. Florals are often associated with Spring and Summer decor, but the right colors can make a floral pattern feel moody and darker, perfect for those deep winter tones.

What I love most about throw pillow combinations is that they are a simple and affordable way to make your space your own. With the right combination, your space can really start to feel like you.
